2010 Brides Add Fun To Bridal Fashions
Your bridal gown is a key feature to the ambiance of your wedding. Here are a few ideas for adding fun to your wedding fashion.
1. Complement your wedding theme with the appropriate dress. If you're having a theme wedding, select a gown that best follows through with the look you are hoping for. As an example, a beach wedding can benefit from the added boost of a bride wearing a short summery sundress, flip flops, and leis.
Alternatively, brides who are having garden weddings would look radiant in a long, gauzy dress made of delicate fabrics. An old Hollywood theme could be accomplished by wearing an antique ivory flapper dress, while a Victorian theme can best be accomplished by visiting your local costume shop or finding a theme suited pattern and hiring a gifted seamstress to create an authentic looking Victorian gown.
2. Defy tradition - Whoever said that first time brides can only wear an all-white gown to their weddings was probably born color blind. (And whoever said second-time brides can't, is a prude.) Adding color is one of the simplest ways a bride can spruce up her wedding day look. Today you can find brightly colored wedding gowns available in vivid jewel tones like turquoise, emerald green, amethyst, and yellow. The Maggie Sottero line has had several fabulous colored gowns in their collection, as do other designers.
Brides desiring a more traditional wedding need not be left out since they can incorporate these trends in their gowns by adding colorful accents like a bright sash or richly colored trim. And have you seen the beautiful gowns at David's Bridal with black accents? Stunning!
3. Consider Color - White is a universally flattering color, but, unknown to most people, different shades of white can either highlight a bride's best assets or bring out her worst features. Even if you opt to stick to a white wedding gown, choose a shade that flatters your skin tone best. White doesn't have to be boring especially if you dress it up with the right accents.
4. Show your fun side - Your wedding is supposed to be celebration of your union with the man you love. As a celebration it is supposed to be fun. Show people how fun you can be by adding the right accessories to give your wedding gown some oomph.
Aside from flashy jewelry; oversized embellishments and complementary sashes can do the trick. Cover up with an interesting shawl during the ceremony in case the dress you picked is a little too flashy for your officiant or church requirements.
5. Try a different Style - If you often attend formal events or just have a penchant for wearing dresses, chances are people have seen you in your favorite dress design. For your wedding, why not switch to a different, but still flattering, cut. Trade in your A-line for a ball gown, or your ball gown for a sheath style. You may be surprised, but adding fun to your wedding ensemble can be as simple as choosing a different neckline and hem length.
